LINDAMOOD-BELL GOES CASUAL FOR A CAUSE
San Luis Obispo, Calif., October 1, 2007 – Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, an internationally recognized leader in literacy research, remediation, and professional development, is proud to announce that its employees have donated over $12,000 to various charities through the implementation of their Casual for a Cause program, which was launched in May of 2007. The program allows participating employees to dress casually on the last Friday of every month, while showing their support for the program by donating to one or more of four charities: Cure Autism Now, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the Rhett Bell Scholarship Foundation, and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The year-to-date breakdown of donations to each organization is as follows:
- Cure Autism Now: $3,560
- Rhett Bell Scholarship Foundation: $4,660
- Lance Armstrong Foundation: $2,620
- Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund: $1,616
"Our employees have an opportunity to contribute a self-selected amount to causes they feel strongly about," says Nanci Bell, CEO and Cofounder of Lindamood-Bell. "I am proud that they have given so much from their paychecks each month." By May of 2008, the total amount of employee donations is projected to exceed $35,000.
Lindamood-Bell is also proud to announce its 8th year of participation in Lee National Denim Day to support the fight against breast cancer. Employees can donate $5 each to show their support of the annual event, making a powerful statement as they enjoy a day of wearing denim. Lee National Denim Day was created to provide an easy opportunity to contribute to the fight against breast cancer, a disease that is expected to take the lives of 40,910 men and women in 2007. Donations go to breast cancer research and treatment programs lead by the Women's Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF).
