Bronx Prep Charter School to Offer Intensive Literacy Instruction

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA– Since its founding in August 2000, Bronx Preparatory Charter School has raised the bar, excelling in national and state testing scores. This fall they will provide more academic excellence by partnering with Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes to provide a Lindamood-Bell® Center in a School™ (CIS™). An internationally acclaimed leader in educational instruction and research, Lindamood-Bell has spent the last 30 years developing programs that help students learn how to learn.

"The ability to process language is essential to success in school and this world,” said Kristin Jorden, Bronx Charter Prep Founder and Director. “The Lindamood Bell® program is the best we have seen at helping students to develop that ability both effectively and efficiently. Our students will benefit from it this year and for the rest of their lives."

The CIS™ partnership places a Lindamood-Bell® Learning Center into the school in order to deliver intensive literacy instruction for those students at the high school level who require extra help. Lindamood-Bell® staff will work with small groups of students on a daily basis to develop the language processing skills necessary to read, spell and comprehend.

“Our sensory-cognitive programs develop language processing skills for individuals of all ages,” says Tom Mendoza, Director of Lindamood-Bell’s Center in a School™. “Student gains are significant and are often made after only a few weeks of intensive instruction.”

Through their 40 private Learning Centers and numerous School Services projects Lindamood-Bell has helped thousands of students make significant and life changing gains. They specialize in helping those with learning difficulties such as the symptoms of dyslexia, and have received national attention from students’ success stories in CNN, U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, Time and most recently the neuroscience journal, Neuron.
